The spending figures included in the think tank’s newly published Military Balance report also show that in real-terms, Russia’s military expenditure increased by over 40 percent in 2024.
"We know about the disappearances within the PLA and elsewhere. But no one really knows why," said Ian Chong, associate professor at the National University of Singapore.
A new report from the International Institute for Strategic Studies raises the possibility of a troubling blind spot that regional allies might struggle to fix.
